Introducing the New Planning Center Logo

In the past couple of weeks, we’ve had much to celebrate. Not only did we hit our 10-year anniversary, but we also proudly announced our newest app, Planning Center Groups. Because we believe omne trium perfectum, we are proud to announce our new Planning Center logo. Some History When we launched in the summer of 2006, we used the logo below. At that time, Planning Center was both the name of the company and a single app, and the clipboard was a symbol of organization and structure.

Double Digits

“Double digits.” I remember as a kid, double digits was a milestone birthday. There’s a sense of pride that comes with being ten years old, and in the software world, that milestone is even more special. Computer hardware changes, cultural trends change, and the software market is infinitely more competitive than other markets, so it’s kind of a big deal… 10 Years Ten years ago this week, we set up a booth at the Saddleback Worship Conference in Southern California. That was the first

A Few Words About Sunday's Downtime

If you use Planning Center Services or Check-Ins, you might have noticed that our sites had some serious reliability and performance issues at just about the worst possible time on Sunday morning, February 21st. Not only did this affect you, our customer, but it affected many of us personally since we rely on Planning Center in our own churches. We take that responsibility very seriously. Your trust means everything to us, and here are some changes we're implementing so that we can keep that tru

DIDJA KNOW? 2015 Edition

Who’s a fan of corporate annual reports? Not me! Ya’ know… those boring brochures that large companies hand out to shareholders/investors to show the mind-numbing details of financial records and employee retention rates. zzzzzzzzzz… Although that information is really important, I’m so glad I don’t work for a company that publishes one of those each December! I’m the Communications Director at PCO and, while those boring annual reports WOULD be my responsibility at another company, at Planni

Staff Retreat 2015

For the past 7 years, I worked for a large enterprise company writing website code. It was a pretty good gig and I was content with my career. I could have easily continued on that career path for the rest of my life. But I’m so glad I didn’t. A year ago I started attending a local tech talk called Full Stack. It has a diverse and interesting group of people talking about a wide spectrum of web technologies. The meetups happen monthly and over the last year, I got to know the people attending

Announcing PCO Giving

After months of research, development, design, and testing, we're very happy to release Planning Center Giving - a complete donation system for your church. Complete Donation Management When we talked to church administrators, they told us that one of the most frustrating parts of their process was that it was fractured. There's a system for counting cash and a separate one for online donors. We even saw some churches with a third system in place for text-message donations. With

Staff Retreat 2014

If you know anything about PCO, it's probably how to set up split teams in Services, create a custom security label in Check-Ins, or reschedule an event in Resources. If you need to know anything about PCO behind-the-scenes, it's that everything we do is guided by three things: * We love our people * We love our products * We love our churches We love our people We recently took an all-staff retreat to the desert of southern California for a weekend. We spent time reviewing t

Planning Center Services

You might have noticed that the logo at the top left of Planning Center has changed. Not to worry, the Planning Center Online you know and love is still the same, but we're just branding it differently to help differentiate between our products. If you follow our Facebook or Twitter feeds, you probably saw that we recently launched a new product called Planning Center Resources that manages your church's rooms, resources and approvals. It's an awesome product that is free to use through July

Wallpapers featuring PiCO, our new mascot!

On June 27, Planning Center will be celebrating its 5-year anniversary! We decided that since Planning Center has become such a big part of so many people's lives, it's about time we had a mascot. Our clipboard logo is great, but being an inanimate object, it can't really express the joy people get from streamlining their systems and communication using PCO. Enter PiCO, the Planning Center robot. So many of the tasks people were used to juggling in the past can now be almost completely automate
