Whether you're sending a general message to a donor, a pledge thank-you, an in-kind donation acknowledgement, or the cover letter on a year-end statement, Giving's email tools have been a step behind the rest of Planning Center. Today's release closes that gap and brings Giving's email experience in line with what we've recently shipped in People, Groups, Registrations, and Services.

Send the actual thing, not a link to it

If your pastor writes a thank-you letter that goes out with year-end statements, or if your church puts together a designed cover letter as a PDF, you can now attach those documents directly to your emails.

Inline images let you embed baptism photos, a mission-trip snapshot, or whatever else shows donors what their giving made possible.

For many of you, these attachments & images were previously a separate email, a link to an external URL, or a reason to keep on sending paper statements — now you can do it directly in your Giving emails:

A few more upgrades that came along for the ride

  • Choose your sender: For general messages and pledge thank-yous, you can now choose who the email comes from. By default, emails go out under your organization name and email (or your custom Giving email address, if you've set one), and any admin can also send from an email address on their own profile. Tax-related mailers — in-kind donation acknowledgements and statements — always send from the organization.

  • Placeholders: Donor and sender name placeholders are now available in more places.

A few practical limits

Same limits as our other email tools, so the experience is consistent across products:

  • Inline images: JPG, PNG, or GIF, up to 10 MB each, up to 20 per email

  • Attachments: up to 10 MB each, up to 5 per email, 10 MB total

This is part of a broader effort to make email in Planning Center feel the same wherever you send it from. If there's more you'd love to see in Giving's emails, we'd love to hear about it!
