Anyone in a conversation is able to report a message they find concerning. Until now, every report went to your group leaders (or org administrator) by email, and acting on one meant tracking down the details yourself. This release changes both sides of that: you can setup moderators who will receive all message reports, and these reports now come with everything needed to resolve them on the spot.

Choose who handles reports

In Accounts settings > Organization > Chat, organization administrators can now select specific people as chat moderators. Anyone with a Planning Center login can be added, so the people who handle pastoral care and safety at your church could receive these reports, whether or not they're an organization administrator.

Acting on reported messages

When a message is reported, moderators will receive an email. From there they can view the details and take action:

  • Delete the message so no one else in the conversation sees it.

  • Disable the conversation, which stops new messages for everyone in it. Participants see a note where the message field usually appears. You can re-enable it later if needed.

Reports also collect in one place. A new icon at the top of the chat interface opens the full list. This Dashboard shows what is being reported now and historically, to help your moderators support healthy conversations.

That shared view matters when more than one person is moderating. If the sender already deleted or edited the message, or another moderator already disabled the conversation, you'll see that state rather than repeating work someone else has done.

Building a protected space for your people to connect is something we care deeply about. We hope having the right eyes on reports, and a faster way to act on them, means more chatting and less worrying.
