You can now use automations to complete a person's specific workflow step or take their card out of a workflow entirely.

How it works

Complete workflow step moves a person's card to the next step and notifies the new assignee. Say you have a "Membership application" step that's waiting on someone to submit a form — add an automation to that form, and when they submit, their card completes the step and moves forward on its own.

Creating a form automation with the new "Complete workflow step" option chosen.

Remove card from workflow takes a person's card out of a workflow altogether, no manual cleanup required. In a volunteer onboarding workflow, you might have a "Clear background check" step. Now you can make two Lists – one of people whose background check is not clear and apply an automation to remove them from your volunteer workflow, and another List who are clear with an automation to complete the current step.

The create automation modal within a List showing the new Remove card from workflow optionBoth live alongside "Add card to workflow" in the automations action list, so you can build a workflow that adds, advances, and removes cards without touching them by hand.

Grouped actions

While we were building these, we also reorganized the automations action dropdown so it's easier to scan. General actions live under "Actions," the three workflow card operations (add to, complete a step, and remove) are grouped under "Actions — Workflow cards", updating profile fields are under “Built-in fields”, and the custom fields are under “Custom field tabs.”
