Scammers sometimes try to join several groups quickly, hoping a leader will approve them before anyone notices a pattern. Scam alerts are already shown to admins in Planning Center and leaders in Church Center for individual requests. This change increases scammer alert visibility for admins by surfacing a notification in the side bar, and also shows the alerts on the member requests page.

Review suspicious group join requests sooner
When Groups detects member join requests that signal scammer behavior, admins will see a notification in the top bar so they can investigate quickly. From there, admins can review the person’s activity and remove them from People if needed.
This helps churches respond faster to suspicious requests and better protect their congregation from potential scams.
What admins and leaders should still do
Scammer alerts are meant to provide helpful signals, not replace human judgment. Before approving a request that seems unusual, we recommend personally confirming the request with the individual through a trusted communication method.
