We've adjusted the default setting for new groups to allow only leaders to start new chat conversations. This change won’t impact current groups, just new ones going forward. Groups admins and leaders can always change this setting to allow Members and Leaders to start chats.
Why the change?
We want the default settings to help groups stay organized and safe. We’ve found that when only leaders can start chats, group communications stay more organized and focused. But every church and every group is different, so the option is still there to enable member-created chats.
