Kids ministry looks different in every church, and you need a system that is flexible enough to handle that tricky space before Kindergarten. Now you can choose a grade format that matches how your ministry groups kids.
Is this feature for you? If you’ve ever wanted to add more preschool grade options, promote early childhood classrooms alongside your K-12 classrooms, remove Pre-K from your grade list, or add Transitional Kindergarten (TK), then this update is for you!
Choose a grade format in Accounts
Head to Accounts → Localization → Grades to pick the structure that matches your classrooms.
Choose your lowest grade, from Kindergarten all the way down to Infant, and click Save changes.
If your school district offers TK, check “Include Transitional Kindergarten (TK)” to insert TK between Pre-K and Kindergarten.
And that’s it! We’ll show you a preview of the full grade list before you save, so you can see exactly what’s changing.
You’ll see your new list everywhere grades live
Your selected grade format now shows up consistently in:
People: Profiles & Lists
Check-Ins: Location filters
Registrations: Assignments and selection type settings
Church Center: What parents see when registering, filling out a form, or viewing their household data
Smarter promotions for early childhood
Kindergarten through 12th grade will continue to promote each year when you choose to do promotion, but now you can select which preschool grade you'd like to begin promotion at.
This gives you more control when you want kids to move up once a year with the rest of their group, instead of automatically aging out on their birthday.
If you have any questions or would like to see additional grade options that we haven't added, we want to hear from you! There is a form link under the existing grade options in Accounts where you can request your grade names for future consideration. We’d love to hear your feedback!
📣 P.S. We also released international grade options for Australia, Canada, and the UK! Learn more here .
