Planning Center includes automatic image safety protections to guard churches and congregants from rare—but disturbing or explicit—content.

This system quietly runs in the background across Planning Center—no changes to how you work, and nothing for you to turn on.

We put this guardrail in place after seeing a small number of bad actors distribute harmful and explicit images through Planning Center. Our goal is to make sure you, your congregants, and our company are protected from the worst of the worst.

The system is fully automated, so no human review is involved. It’s designed to identify only the most extreme cases of abusive and explicit imagery, and is carefully tuned to understand common and appropriate use cases like religious imagery and everyday ministry photos. In practice, we expect most churches will never encounter a flagged image and this will never get in the way of free expression.

When an image is uploaded and automatically scanned, bad images with a high-confidence flag will be rejected and the user will be notified to choose a different image.

Email form with error message about flagged images and a warning to remove them. Text fields for subject and body are visible.

Our goal is simple: keep Planning Center safe, trustworthy, and appropriate for everyone while staying out of your way. As with any feature, we'll be listening for your feedback in the very unlikely event you ever see this system engaged.
