For churches that have chosen not to accept credit card donations, we’ve added clearer guidance in the donation form to help set expectations for donors earlier.

After a donor enters an amount and proceeds to payment, we’ll now show a warning before submission if:

  • A saved credit card is selected

  • Apple Pay is selected

  • The donor chooses the option to add a new card

Donation page for Centerville Church, showing options for payment methods. Notice states credit cards are not accepted; use debit card or bank account.

This helps prevent donors from going through the process of adding or selecting a credit card, only to discover later that credit cards aren’t accepted.

To keep the donation form clean and focused, this message only appears when it’s relevant. If a donor is paying by bank account or has selected a saved debit card, it won’t be visible.

If a donor continues with a credit card anyway, the existing error message will still appear after the donation is submitted.

Error message with a red warning icon, indicating credit card donations are unavailable; alternative payment methods are accepted.

This update is available in the new donation form. If you haven’t switched over yet, you’ll find a banner at the top of your Giving dashboard where you can opt in!
