We’re excited to share that the donation form now includes an optional memo line feature! Donors can add a short note to their gift—such as “In memory of…” or any other brief intention. This is available on the new donation form across Church Center web, the Church Center app, and the embedded modal for your website.
Why we built it
Many churches told us they needed a simple way for donors to be more specific with their gift intentions—without having to maintain long, unwieldy lists of funds. Until now, that usually meant extra emails, manual tracking, or workarounds outside of Planning Center. The memo line feature brings all of that into the online donation experience in a clean, structured way.
How it works
Churches can enable the memo line from the Donation form tab in Giving if you have the new donation form turned on.
Churches also choose which funds should allow memos.
When enabled, donors will see an “Add a memo” option on supported funds.
The memo field is intentionally short — think check memo line — so notes stay quick and manageable.
Donors will see their memo in donation history and can modify it on recurring donations. Donation receipts will indicate that a memo was added, but will not specify the memo details for now.
Admins will see donor-entered memos on each donation’s detail page and in the “By donation” export.
Tax compliance
Since free-form fields can sometimes introduce confusion around designated giving, we provide a required disclaimer to help churches and donors maintain tax-deductibility.
If you haven’t switched over to the new donation form yet, you’ll find a banner at the top of your Giving dashboard where you can opt in!
Happy Holidays!
