We all share a deep frustration with scammers, spammers, and other bad actors in today’s digital world. Unfortunately, they’re out there—working hard to gain access to sensitive group member information. To help guard against this, we’re introducing new messaging to prevent giving scammers access to groups. This feature will gently encourage admins and leaders to confirm a person’s identity before adding them to a group. More information on how to keep your Planning Center account secure can be found here.
How does it work?
This new warning message will show when adding new members. The message cannot be disabled to ensure that admins are seeing it.
It will also show on Church Center (web and iOS/Android version 2025.7.7 or newer) when adding new members.
Why is it awesome?
This new messaging helps group leaders to make safer, more informed decisions when managing their groups. By adding a simple checkpoint before new members are added, we’re reducing the risk of scammers getting access to groups. It’s a small change that we hope makes a big difference—building trust, strengthening security, and keeping your group spaces safe from digital intruders. Plus, it encourages a thoughtful, people-first approach to group management, which is what we’re all about.
